FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's basketball team falls to Franklin in their season finale 74-58. Rose-Hulman earns the #5 seed in the HCAC Tournament, and they will make a return trip to Franklin on Sunday at 4 PM for their opening round game.
After the game was delayed for two hours due to the snow, the Fightin' Engineers opened the first quarter on fire and built a 17-11 lead and led 21-16 at the end of the quarter. Rose-Hulman shot over 40% from the floor and outrebounded the Grizzlies 15-8 in the first quarter.
However, it was all Franklin from that point on as the Grizzlies outscored Rose-Hulman 41-22 in the middle two quarters to take a 14 point lead after three quarters of play. They would hold on to win 74-58.
Ashley Black led the team with 17 points, and she tied her career-high with a pair of blocks.
Sophia Reese added her second-highest scoring output of the season with 13 points in the loss. Her two highest-scoring games of the season have both come against Franklin.
Grace Roland finished with her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 boards. Her 12 rebounds ties her career-high.
Rose-Hulman finishes the regular season at 12-13 and 9-9 in the HCAC with the loss. The Fightin' Engineers make a return trip back to Franklin on Sunday as they look to avenge Friday's defeat with a spot in the HCAC Semifinals on the line.
