Men's Tennis Opens Florida Trip with Alma and Wartburg on Monday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis opens their 2024 Florida trip on Monday, February 26 with a pair of matches at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida. The Fightin' Engineers take on Alma at 8 AM and Wartburg at 12 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman comes in at 3-1 after a pair of wins over Trine in the fall season and a win over Wittenberg in their home opener.
* The Fightin' Engineers dropped their lone match this season to Illinois Tech to start the spring season.
* Freshman Elijah Hadler was named the HCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after winning his first career collegiate matches in both singles and doubles against Wittenberg on Saturday.
* Grant Paradowski leads the Fightin' Engineers in singles wins this season at 8-2. Freshman Ervin Perkowski has also picked up four wins on the year with a perfect 4-0 record.
* Owen Reynolds and Rhian Seneviratne join Perkowski with four singles wins.
* Paradowski and Reynolds were named First-Team All-HCAC honores in 2022-23.
* Perkowski also paces the team in doubles wins this season with four. Dale Loveland, Paradowski, and Chris Lian have added three doubles wins.
* Rose-Hulman had its streak of seven consecutive HCAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances snapped last year after falling in the HCAC Semifinals. They finished the 2022-23 season at 10-10 with a 4-2 record in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers will return to the court on Wednesday, February 28 as they take on Davenport at the USTA Tennis Center at 10 AM.

ALMA NOTES:
* Alma sits at 1-2 on the season coming into their Florida Trip.
* The Scots play Davenport at 12:30 PM on Sunday before taking on the Fightin' Engineers on Monday.
* Alma picked up their lone with over Olivet (9-0) after losing to Spring Arbor (8-1) and Ashland (9-0).
* The Scots return to the court on Tuesday at 4:30 PM to take on Wartburg.

WARTBURG NOTES:
* Wartburg comes in at 2-6 overall this season.
* The Knights picked up a pair of wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and Ripon in their February 17 doubleheader.
* Sean Oslund and Kaleb Flenker lead the team with six singles wins this season.
* The number one doubles team of Jeff Miller and Cade Davis comes in at 7-7 on the year to lead the team in doubles wins.
* Flenker and Ryuki Motsumoto are a perfect 6-0 in doubles for the Knights.
* This is the first game of the day for the Knights who will return to the court at 5 PM on Monday to take on Warner.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman dropped the lone match against Alma in program history.
* The Fightin' Engineers fell to the Scots 5-4 in 2014.
* Rose-Hulman is 3-0 all-time against Wartburg.
* All three matches in the series occurred in the span of one year with the first on March 2, 2016 and the third on February 28, 2017.
* The Knights have only won one individual match during the three team matches with the 6 singles win in 2017.
