DAVENPORT, Fla. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team dropped both games of the Saturday doubleheader with 2-1 and 8-2 losses to Grove City.

In the first game of the day, it was a battle between the starting pitcher as Michael Yager and Evan Umland cruised in one of the fastest games in Rose-Hulman history.

The first five innings of the game took just 39 minutes, and it was knotted up at 0-0 heading into the sixth.

The Wolverines strung together three hits in a row to bring home two in the sixth, but Rose-Hulman bounced back with one of the their own as Colton Brown reached on a bunt single and Josh Erpenbeck brought him home with his second hit of the day.

Yager pitched all seven innings for the complete game with just two runs allowed and four strikeouts.

In the seventh, Rose-Hulman got a runner on, but they were unable to tie the game and Grove City held on for the 2-1 victory.

In the second game, Grove City jumped out to an early 6-0 lead with 3 in the first and 3 in the second.

Rose-Hulman would get one back in the third with a Peter Rogers double and an RBI single from Kade Kline.

After two more from the Wolverines in the fourth, the Fightin' Engineers added one final run in the sixth with a pair of singles from Kline and Erpenbeck and an RBI sacrifice fly from Brown.

Ian Kline got the start and gave up six runs in two innings. Camden Judson and Evan Chung combined for the final four innings in relief, allowing just two earned runs.

The Fightin' Engineers fall to 3-4 on the season with the losses. They will return to action on Saturday at 9 AM as they take on Houghton in their final game of the spring trip.
