GREENVILLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 contest with the Greenville Panthers, late on Friday night.
Taylor Goldman and
Wynne Aldrich opened up the match with an 8-1 win at #1 doubles to make it a 2-1 lead for Greenville after doubles.
The Fightin' Engineers battled back in singles with three wins in the top three singles spots. Goldman and Aldrich won in straight sets, and
Ella Dorfmueller held on in a third-set tiebreaker for a 6-4, 1-6, 10-2 win at #3 singles.
Greenville answered with wins at #5 and #6 singles to put the entire match on the line with the #4 singles spot.Â
After dropping the first set 6-3,
Camille Clark battled back for a 6-4 win in the second set to send the match to a third set tiebreaker to decide the match.
Clark ended up dropping a back and forth third set tiebreaker 13-11 to give the Panthers the 5-4 victory.
Rose-Hulman falls to 3-11 on the season after just missing their first non-conference win of the year. They will return to action on Wednesday, April 17 as they host Southern Indiana for their sixth non-Division III match of the season.
