Men's Tennis Wins 2024 HCAC Championship 6-3 on Senior Day

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team brought home their 8th HCAC Championship in the last 9 years on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Transylvania on Saturday afternoon at the Terre Haute Tennis and Pickleball Center.

Following the match, the Fightin' Engineers honored their three seniors, Lawson McCloskey, Corey Pollard, and Rhian Seneviratne, with their Senior Day festivities.

The Fightin' Engineers took control of their match early with wins in all three doubles matches thanks to an 8-7 (7-5) victory at #3 doubles by Owen Reynolds and Andrew Leonard.

In singles, Ervin Perkowski came from 3-0 down to win 6-4, 6-4 at #3 singles and pick up the fourth point for the Fightin' Engineers.

Chris Lian would seal the win for the Fightin' Engineers with a 6-0, 6-4 win at the #5 spot.

Rose-Hulman would tack on one more point at the #4 singles spot with Rhian Seneviratne coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 on Senior Day.

With the win, Rose-Hulman finishes with the #1 seed in the HCAC Tournament. They will travel to Lexington, Kentucky to play the winner of Hanover and Franklin in the HCAC Semifinals on Saturday, May 4 at Top Seed Tennis Center. With a win, they will play in the HCAC Championship match on Sunday, May 5 at Top Seed.
