TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball dropped both games of their Senior Day doubleheader on Saturday to #25 Transylvania with scores of 4-0 and 7-0.
Transylvania scored runs in the second, third, and fourth to take a 4-0 lead on Rose-Hulman.
The Fightin' Engineers loaded the bases in the third inning with only one out, but the Pioneers were able to get back-to-back outs to get out of the jam.
Aubrey Smith,
Kayla Schnippel, and
Katelyn Sarvis all recorded hits in the game one loss.
Smith also pitched a complete game on the mound with four strikeouts and just four runs allowed.
In the second game, the Pioneers came out strong with the bats and took a 4-0 lead in the second inning. They would tack on two more in the third and one in the fourth to win 7-0.
Kennedy Michnewicz picked up two hits in the game, and
Hailey Hofmann and Smith added one hit in the loss.
Phoebe Worstell picked up the loss in the circle with six runs allowed in three innings.
Audrey Theuring gave up one run in her four innings of relief for Rose-Hulman.
The Fightin' Engineers finish their season at 21-19 with losses in nine of their last 10 games. They will await their fate on making the HCAC Tournament throughout the weekend as they need help from some other teams in the conference to clinch their spot in the top-6.
