TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Athletics has officially announced
Matt Wilson as the head coach of the men's and women's tennis programs.
Wilson served as the interim head coach for both tennis programs in the 2023-24 season and was an assistant coach for the Fightin' Engineers during the 2022-23 season.Â
Wilson had instant success leading the men's tennis team to a first-place finish last year in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference during the regular season. The team went on to win the HCAC Tournament and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. This was the program's eighth HCAC regular season title and HCAC Tournament title, and their 10th time in school history competing in the NCAA Tournament.Â
During his first year leading the women's team, the Fightin' Engineers earned the runner-up spot in the regular season standings claiming the #2 seed in the HCAC Tournament. The team suffered a loss to Transylvania in the HCAC Tournament Championship in a tight match with a final score of 5-3.Â
In his first season, he led six student-athletes to all-HCACÂ 1st team honors and four to all-HCAC honorable mention.Â
Before Rose-Hulman, Wilson served as the head men's tennis coach at Terre Haute North Vigo High School from 2020-2023. He also served as the assistant women's tennis coach at Terre Haute North from 2020-2022. Wilson is a member of the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association; a USPTA Certified Tennis Instructor; USTA Safe Play Certified; and a THJTA Board member.Â
