CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team dropped their midweek contest at Wabash College by a 2-1 scoreline on Wednesday evening.
The Fightin' Engineers opened the game with the first chance as
Eli Miller had a one-on-one with the keeper, but he pulled the shot just wide in the 2nd minute.
Wabash responded with a goal on a second chance in the box in the 29th minute, and they quickly doubled their lead in the 33rd minute with a long ball over the top that allowed the Little Giants' striker to get behind the back line.
Rose-Hulman had multiple opportunities in the final five minutes of the half, but the Wabash keeper came up with a pair of tough saves to keep the Fightin' Engineers off the board.
Tyler Eldridge cut the lead in half in the 70th minute with a corner kick goal with an assist from
Oliver Fila, but the team was unable to come up with the equalizer and fell 2-1.
Eldridge led the team with 3 shots, and
Landon Kangas and
Ryan Shapiro each added a pair.
With the loss, this season marks just the second time in the last 12 years that the Fightin' Engineers have opened the season winless in their first two matches.
Rose-Hulman will return to action on Saturday, September 7 as they travel to Principia looking for the first win of the season.
