GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened the 2024 season with a disappointing loss at DePauw on Saturday afternoon.
In the first quarter, the Tigers held the Fightin' Engineers to just 11 total yards of offense and took a 15-0 lead through one. Rose-Hulman was able to move the ball consistently in the second quarter picking up three first downs, but sacks and penalties kept them out of the endzone as DePauw took a 43-0 lead into the halftime locker room.
Rose-Hulman got on the board in the fourth quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from
Rick Easterwood to
Daniel Huery, and they added a second touchdown on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Easterwood to
Kolton Nanko.
Easterwood finished with 178 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns, and
Jay Smith led the team on the ground with 97 rushing yards. Nanko was the top receiver for Rose-Hulman with 7 catches, 112 yards, and a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Antonio Barnes led the team with 10 tackles, and
Austin Hastings added 7 tackles and the lone tackle for loss.
The Fightin' Engineers will return to their home field on Saturday, September 14 for their 2024 Home Opener as they take on Trine at 7 PM.
