TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will battle for first place in the HCAC hosting Transylvania on Saturday, January 11 at 3 PM.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman sits atop the HCAC standings with a record of 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers have started off hot in conference play taking down Manchester, Bluffton, Anderson, Earlham, Berea, and Mount St. Joseph to stand undefeated in the HCAC.
* The team comes off a win against Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday night with a final score of 65-57.

Joey Schmitz has been named the HCAC Athlete of the Week for his performance against Berea where he totaled 28 points after making eight three-pointers.
* This is the second Athlete of the Week Award for Schmitz this season as he joins teammate
Miles McGowen as the only Fightin' Engineers to win the award multiple times in a season in the last 12 years.
* McGowen leads the team, averaging close to a double-double with 13.1 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. He also ranks second on the team with 32 assists.
* Schmitz has been a standout for the Fightin' Engineers leading the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game, 37 made three-pointers, and 65 made field goals. He also leads the team with 27 steals.

Kobe Stoudemire also averages double figures with 10.8 points per game and totals a team-high 33 assists.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.

Miles McGowen earned 2nd-team all-HCAC honors last season after leading the team with 15.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
* After hosting Transylvania, Rose-Hulman will continue conference play traveling to take on Hanover on Wednesday, January 15 at 7:30 PM.
TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania stands in a three-way tie for second place in the HCAC with a record of 7-6 overall and 5-1 in the HCAC this season.
* The team comes off a win against Hanover with a final score of 73-58.
* Colby Napier is the team's leading scorer with 15.6 points per game this season.
* The Pioneers have three other players averaging double figures including Hunter Penn (11.5), Ian Reesor (11.2), and Zach Stahlman (11.0).
* Penn is the team's top rebounder averaging 7.9 rebounds per game.
* Dakota Capps leads the team with 58 assists and 18 steals on the year.
* Transylvania was selected to finish fifth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 52 points.
* After facing Rose-Hulman, the Pioneers will travel to face Franklin on Wednesday, January 15 at 7:30 PM.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series between both teams with a record of 17-26 against the Pioneers.
* The teams split last season with each team winning at home.
* Rose-Hulman defeated Transylvania 92-83 in the first meeting and Transylvania defeated Rose-Hulman 76-70 in the second meeting of the 2023-24 season.
