Men's Basketball Hosts Franklin in Battle of Top HCAC Teams Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team welcomes Franklin College to Hulbert Arena for HCAC action on Saturday, January 18 at 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 10-5 overall and 7-1 in the HCAC so far this season.
* Rose-Hulman stands in the three-way tie for first place in the HCAC standings with Franklin and Anderson.
* The team had their four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday losing their first conference game of the season to the Hanover Panthers with a final score of 78-50. 
* Miles McGowen reached a career milestone in the team's loss to the Panthers recording his 1,000th point as a member of the Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team.
* McGowen becomes the 33rd player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points. 
Joey Schmitz leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game. He also leads the team with 40 three-pointers made and 29 steals.
Miles McGowen has been another standout averaging close to a double-double with 13.0 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Kobe Stoudemire also averages double figures in scoring with 10.5 points per game and leads the team in assists with 38.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.
Miles McGowen earned 2nd-team all-HCAC honors last season after leading the team with 15.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
* After hosting Franklin, Rose-Hulman will continue HCAC play hosting Manchester on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 PM. 

FRANKLIN NOTES:
* Franklin sits tied for first in the HCAC standings with a record of 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the HCAC. 
* The team is on a five-game winning streak defeating Spalding, Earlham, Manchester, Bluffton, and Transylvania. 
* The Grizzlies come off a victory over Transylvania with a final score of 77-63. 
* Lynn King leads the team this season averaging 11.7 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. 
* The Grizzlies have two other players averaging double figures including Braden Flanagan (11.5) and Cooper Matthews (10.0).
* Franklin was picked to finish sixth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 47 points. 
* After traveling to face Rose-Hulman, Franklin will hit the road to take on Anderson on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Franklin with a record of 43-49 against the Grizzlies.
* The teams split last season with both teams protecting home court. Franklin won the first game 64-61 and Rose-Hulman won the second game 68-66.
* The Fightin' Engineers have a home record of 19-13 when hosting Franklin.
