Women's Basketball Travels to Franklin Saturday for HCAC Action

GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team will continue conference play traveling to take on Franklin College on Saturday, January 18 at 1 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands in a three-way tie for fifth place in the HCAC standings with a record of 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the HCAC.
* The team comes off a competitive loss to Hanover College with a final score of 73-70. 
* Sophia Reese was the standout in the game against the Panthers leading the team in scoring with a career-high 20 points. 
Jamie Baum has been the star for Rose-Hulman this year, leading the team with 17.0 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.
* She is also shooting 40% from beyond the arc and totaling 31 steals and 22 blocks, leading the team in all three categories.
Emma Schipp and Sophia Reese have also been productive scorers, averaging 9.8 points per game each. 
* Schipp also ranks second on the team with 6.1 rebounds per game. 
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish sixth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 46 poll points. 
Jamie Baum earned 1st-team all-HCAC honors last season.
* After traveling to take on Franklin, Rose-Hulman will continue their conference schedule on the road facing Manchester on Wednesday, January 22 at 7 PM. 

FRANKLIN NOTES:
* Franklin stands in fourth place in the HCAC standings with a record of 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC. 
* The team comes off a loss to Transylvania in their last game with a final score of 67-47
* Franklin is led by Jordan Coon averaging 18.9 points per game this season. 
* The team has two other players averaging double-figures this season including Taylor Cooney (13.5) and Erica Buening (10.9).
* Cooney is the team's leading rebounder averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. 
* The Grizzlies have been selected to finish fifth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 49 points. 
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, Franklin will continue their conference schedule hosting Anderson on Wednesday, January 22 at 7 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Franklin with a record of 21-28 against the Grizzlies.
* The Fightin' Engineers have lost their last three games against the Grizzlies all during the 2023-24 season.
* Rose-Hulman's last game against Franklin was during the HCAC Tournament last year where the Fightin' Engineers fell short with a score of 73-69.
* The Fighitn' Engineers have an all-time away record of 8-13 when traveling to face Franklin.
