Men's Basketball Returns to HCAC Action Traveling to Face Berea Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will return to conference play traveling to take on Berea on Saturday, January 4 at 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman enters the weekend with a record of 7-4 overall and an undefeated record of 4-0 in the HCAC. 
* The Fightin' Engineers are tied with Transylvania at the top of the HCAC standings after taking down Manchester, Bluffton, Anderson, and Earlham to open conference play.
* The team comes off a win over Olivet in the Glenn Van Wieren Classic hosted by Hope College with a final score of 74-65. 
Miles McGowen leads the team, averaging a double-double with 12.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game. He also ranks second on the team with 27 assists.
Joey Schmitz is the team's leading scorer with 13.4 points per game.
* Schmitz also leads the team with 29 three-pointers made and 25 steals. 
Kobe Stoudemire also averages double figures with 11.3 points per game and totals a team-high 30 assists. 
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.
Miles McGowen earned 2nd-team all-HCAC honors last season after leading the team with 15.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
* After traveling to Berea, Rose-Hulman will host Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:30 PM. 

BEREA NOTES:
* Berea currently ranks tied for ninth in the HCAC standings with an overall record of 5-6 and an HCAC record of 0-4. 
* The team still seeks their first win in conference play after falling to Hanover, Anderson, Franklin, and Bluffton.
* The team comes off a win over Mount Aloysius College in the Music City Classic with a final score of 94-70. 
* Berea is led by Trey Minter averaging 19.5 points per game with a team-high 46 assists. 
* Demetris Phillips and Bryce Riley also average double figures in scoring with 16.5 and 13.4 points per game. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Berea will continue HCAC play hosting Earlham College on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:30 PM.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series between both teams with a record of 5-3 against Berea.
* The Fightin' Engineers fell short in the last meeting between both teams during the 1969-70 season with a final score of 120-112.
* Rose-Hulman defeated Berea earlier that same season with a final score of 85-81. 
* This will be the first time in 55 years that both teams will face off.
