Men's Basketball Travels to Transylvania for HCAC Action Saturday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team hits the road to take on Transylvania on Saturday, January 25 at 3 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 11-6 overall and 8-2 in the HCAC on the season.
* Rose-Hulman ranks tied for second in the HCAC with Franklin College at 8-2 trailing Anderson with a record of 9-1.
* The Fightin' Engineers were just the fifth team in the last 21 years of the HCAC to start the conference season 7-0, but they have dropped two contests since then to Hanover and Franklin.
* The team comes off an explosive win over Manchester with a final score of 95-71.
* The Fightin' Engineers shattered the school record for team-made three-pointers in a single game with 20 triples in the win over Manchester.
* The previous record of 15 made three-pointers was set in 2018, and the team's total is just one shy of the all-time HCAC record of 21. 
Miles McGowen reached a career milestone in the team's loss to the Panthers recording his 1,000th point as a member of the Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team. He is just the 33rd player in school history to join the 1,000-point club and the first since Craig McGee and John Czarnecki in 2020.
Joey Schmitz leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game. He also leads the team with 47 three-pointers made and 31 steals.
Miles McGowen has been another standout averaging close to a double-double with 12.3 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game.
Kobe Stoudemire also averages double figures in scoring with 11.1 points per game and leads the team in assists with 47.
* Daniel Savovic is another double-figure scorer averaging 10.4 points per game this season.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.
Miles McGowen earned 2nd-team all-HCAC honors last season after leading the team with 15.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
* After traveling to take on Transylvania, Rose-Hulman will hit the road to face Franklin on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:30 PM. 

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania stands at 9-8 overall and 7-3 in the HCAC this season.
* The Pioneers rank fourth in the conference behind Anderson, Franklin, and Rose-Hulman.
* The team has won two straight against conference opponents defeating Manchester 70-65 and Earlham 85-68. 
* The Pioneers are led by Colby Napier averaging 15.3 points per game this season.
* Transy has two other players averaging double figures in scoring including Hunter Penn and Ian Reesor with 12.8 and 11.3 points per game. 
* Penn is also the team's leading rebounder with 7.9 rebounds per game. 
* Transylvania has been selected to finish fifth in the HCAC preseason poll receiving 52 points.
* After hosting the Fightin' Engineers, Transylvania will host Berea on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:30 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series between both teams with a record of 18-26 overall against the Pioneers.
* The Fightin' Engineers defeated Transylvania earlier this season with a final score of 82-79.
* Rose-Hulman has won three of their last four games against the Pioneers dating back to the 2022-23 season. 
* The team has an all-time away record of 7-14 when traveling to face Transylvania.
