TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team returns to action at 3 PM on Saturday, February 1 as they host the Berea Mountaineers for the first time in program history.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 12-7 overall and 9-3 in the HCAC on the season. They currently sit in a tie for second place in the HCAC with Franklin and Transylvania at 9-3.
* Earlier this season, Rose-Hulman became just the fifth team in the last 21 years of the HCAC to start the conference season 7-0.
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off a 63-61 win over Franklin College on Wednesday night.
* Rose-Hulman shattered the school record for three-pointers made in a single game with 20 triples earlier this season in the win over Manchester.
* The previous record of 15 made three-pointers was set in 2018, and the team's total was just one shy of the all-time HCAC record of 21, set back in 2014 by Defiance College.

Miles McGowen reached a career milestone earlier this season as he became the 33rd player in school history to join the 1,000-point club.
* He is the first Fightin' Engineer to reach this milestone since Craig McGee and John Czarnecki in 2020.

Joey Schmitz leads the team with 13.2 points per game, 54 three-pointers made, and 31 steals in his breakout freshman campaign.

Miles McGowen has been another standout, averaging close to a double-double with 12.2 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Kobe Stoudemire and
Daniel Savovic are also averaging double figures this season with 11.7 and 10.0 points per game. Stoudemire is the team leader in assists with 51 as well.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.
* After hosting Berea, Rose-Hulman will continue their conference schedule at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 5 as they host Hanover College.
BEREA NOTES:
* Berea enters the weekend with a record of 9-10 overall and 4-8 in the HCAC as they sit in seventh in the HCAC standings so far this season.
* The Mountaineers come off a 79-77 loss to Transylvania University on Wednesday.
* The team is led by Trey Minter, averaging 21.2 points per game this season. He currently ranks 27th in NCAA Division III in points per game.
* Demetris Phillips (15.5) and Bryce Riley (14.1) are also averaging double figures for the Mountaineers this season.
* Phillips is the team leader in rebounds averaging 9.3 rebounds per game.
* The Mountaineers were picked to finish seventh in the HCAC preseason poll, receiving 29 points.
* After traveling to face Rose-Hulman, Berea will host Transylvania at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 5.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series 6-3 over the Mountaineers including a 75-73 victory on January 4.
* This season's meetin was the first game between the Fightin' Engineers and the Mountaineers since the 1969-70 season when Berea defeated Rose-Hulman 120-112.
* This will be the first time in program history that the Fightin' Engineers host Berea in Hulbert Arena.
