Rose-Hulman Drops to DePauw in Season Opener

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman led off the season against DePauw, where the Tigers pulled away with a 190-54 victory.
 
Freshman Ellie Castleman had a phenomenal start to her collegiate season, recording first-place victories in both of her events. Castleman won the 1-meter diving with a score of 169.45 and closed out her day by placing first overall in 3-meter diving with a 165.50 score.
 
Freshman Janey Leiker also thrived in her debut, as she recorded a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.13.
 
Sophomore Ritu Bharamaraddi competed in the 50 Backstroke, where she posted a time of 27.69 in heat one. In heat two, Bharamaraddi completed the race in third place, recording a time of 29.22
 
Sophomore Avery Witt rounded out Rose-Hulman's top three finishes in the meet with DePauw. Witt came in third place in the 100 Backstroke, where she recorded a time of 1:03.76
 
The Fightin' Engineers will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiates. Purdue will host the meet, which will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 12 PM.
