Men's Basketball Finishes Wheaton Tournament with Win Over St. Scholastica

WHEATON, Ill. -- The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team wrapped up the Wheaton Tournament with a win over St. Scholastica with a final score of 64-53. This improves the team to 2-2 overall this season.

Freshman Evan Gentile led the team in scoring with some impressive shooting. Gentile finished the night with 14 points, shooting 4-7 from beyond the arc.

Cole Pride also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points, and Christian Torres led the team on the glass with a team-high seven rebounds.

Both teams stood tied in the first half at 18-18 with 6:25 remaining before halftime. The Fightin' Engineers finished the half on a 10-6 run to take the lead 28-24.

Rose-Hulman started the half by extending their lead to 10 points on a made jump shot by Daniel Savovic to make the score 46-36 with 11:23 left in the second half.

Then Gentile caught fire, hitting three consecutive three-pointers to grow the team's lead to 19 points at 55-36. The lead proved to be too much to overcome for St. Scholastica, as the Fightin' Engineers would walk away with the hard-fought win.

The Fightin' Engineers finished the game shooting an outstanding 46.43% from the field and a near-perfect 91.7% from the free throw line.

Rose-Hulman will return home to start conference play, hosting Manchester on Wednesday, December 3, at 7:30 PM.
