TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team won their fourth consecutive game on Wednesday night as they closed out the regular season with a 101-78 victory over Earlham.
The Fightin' Engineers rolled in the first half with a 43-29 lead at the break as
Cole Pride led the team with 20 points and 6 rebounds on 8-11 shooting in just 12 minutes in the first half.
The Quakers were able to cut the lead to single digits at 66-57 with 11 minutes to go, but the Fightin' Engineers answered with a 14-0 run in the next three minutes to stretch the lead to 23.
Rose-Hulman would continue to roll and close out the regular season with a 101 victory, the most points scored in a game this season for the Fightin' Engineers since they beat Millikin 102-75 in 2018.
Cole Pride led the team with a career-high 29 points and added 8 rebounds in the win over the Quakers.
Joey Schmitz hit four threes in the game which gives him the all-time HCAC record for threes made in conference games in a season. Schmitz ends the season with 59 threes in HCAC contests, breaking the record of 55 that was set back in the 2010-11 season. He currently sits just four threes from tying the all-time Rose-Hulman record for threes made in a season with 78.
Jack Jenniges and
Miles McGowen also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points as 12 Rose-Hulman players scored in the game.
With the win, the Fightin' Engineers cap off the regular season with a 16-9 record and a 13-5 record in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman earned the #3 seed in the HCAC Tournament, and they will host the Mount St. Joseph Lions on Saturday, February 22, at 4 PM in the HCAC Quarterfinals.
