TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team opens their spring season at 5 PM on Tuesday, February 4, as they travel to Greencastle to battle the DePauw Tigers.
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 1-3 after the fall season and 1-0 in the HCAC.
* The Fightin' Engineers picked up their lone win of the season with a 5-2 decision over the Earlham Quakers.
*
Emerson Donaldson leads the team in wins this season with a 4-3 overall record in singles play.
*
Nova Gladden has also picked up three wins on the year to join Donaldson as the only players over .500 in singles.
* In doubles play,
Lia Taylor joins Donaldson and Gladden to lead the team with four wins on the year.
*
Addie Patterson has also won three doubles matches in her freshman campaign.
* The Fightin' Engineers were selected to finish second in the HCAC preseason poll, tied with Anderson with 39 points.
* Rose-Hulman brought home a 2nd-place finish in the conference last season after falling to Transylvania in the HCAC Championship match.
* The Fightin' Engineers brought in nine new players to their roster this season with players from five different states including Indiana (3), Illinois (2), Arizona (2), Wisconsin (1), and Kentucky (1). The team returns just three players from last year's team.
* After hosting Manchester, Rose-Hulman will return to Terre Haute for the final match before their Florida trip as they host IU-Kokomo on Sunday, February 16.
DEPAUW NOTES:
* DePauw enters the spring season with an 0-1 record overall after dropping their lone dual match to Division I foe Valparaiso in the fall.
* The Tigers also competed in a pair of individual tournaments including the DePauw Fall Invitational and the ITA Regional Tournament.
* Valerie Doherty leads the team with five wins in the young season with two in singles and a team-high three in doubles play.
* Kassie Green also comes in with a team-high three wins in doubles play this year with a perfect 3-0 record with Doherty.
* The Tigers were picked to finish in third place in the NCAC Preseason Coaches Poll, picked behind Kenyon and Denison.
* After facing Rose-Hulman, DePauw will open NCAC play on Saturday, February 8 as they host the Kenyon Owls, the 2025 NCAC preseason favorites.
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman has lost all 19 matches all-time with the DePauw Tigers dating back to 1997.
* Out of the 171 inidividual matches in those 19 meetings, the Fightin' Engineers have come out on top in just eight of those matches.
* The Fightin' Engineers fell 8-1 last season with senior
Wynne Aldrich picking up the lone win at #2 singles.
* The DePauw Tigers are one of just six teams that Rose-Hulman is winless against all-time with at least five matches played including Hendrix (0-7), IU-Indianapolis (0-6), Sewanee (0-5), Southern Indiana (0-7), and Wheaton-IL (0-5).
