Men's Basketball Hosts Hanover in HCAC Action on Wednesday Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team returns to Hulbert Arena to host Hanover College in HCAC action this Wednesday, February 5, at 7:30 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:

* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 12-8 overall and 9-4 in the HCAC this season. 
* The team ranks tied for third in the HCAC standings with Transylvania. 
* Rose-Hulman looks to bounce back after a tough loss to Berea College over the weekend. 
Joey Schmitz leads the team with 12.8 points per game, 56 three-pointers made, and 32 steals in his breakout freshman campaign.
Miles McGowen has been another standout, averaging close to a double-double with 11.9 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Kobe Stoudemire and Daniel Savovic are also averaging double figures this season with 11.5 and 10.0 points per game. Stoudemire is the team leader in assists with 54 as well.
* Earlier this season, Rose-Hulman became just the fifth team in the last 21 years of the HCAC to start the conference season 7-0.
* Rose-Hulman shattered the school record for three-pointers made in a single game with 20 triples earlier this season in the win over Manchester.
* The previous record of 15 made three-pointers was set in 2018, and the team's total was just one shy of the all-time HCAC record of 21, set back in 2014 by Defiance College.
Miles McGowen reached a career milestone earlier this season as he became the 33rd player in school history to join the 1,000-point club.
* He is the first Fightin' Engineer to reach this milestone since Craig McGee and John Czarnecki in 2020.
* The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC preseason coaches poll, receiving 53 poll points.
* After hosting Hanover, Rose-Hulman will travel to face Anderson on Saturday, February 8, at 3 PM. 

HANOVER NOTES:

* Hanover currently ranks fifth in the HCAC standings with a record of 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the HCAC. 
* The Panthers are on a three-game winning streak against conference opponents defeating Earlham, Mount St. Joseph, and Bluffton. 
* The team comes off a big win over the Bluffton Beavers with a final score of 97-73.
* Coleman Sater leads the Panthers with 13.3 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game.
* Luke Miller also averages double figures in scoring for the squad with 12.3 points per game. 
* Hanover was selected to finish second in the HCAC preseason poll, receiving 68 points and one first-place vote. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Hanover will hit the road to take on Manchester University on Saturday, February 8, at 2 PM. 

SERIES HISTORY:

* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Hanover with a record of 46-61 against the Panthers. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have lost eight straight games to the Panthers dating back to the 2021-22 season.
* Hanover defeated Rose-Hulman earlier this season with a final score of 78-50.
* The Fightin' Engineers have a home record of 20-17 all-time when hosting Hanover.
