GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team opened their spring season on Tuesday night with a 7-0 loss to the DePauw Tigers.
The Fightin' Engineers fell behind 1-0 early after dropping all three doubles matches. The freshman duo of
Julia Burt and
Kaitlyn Pfund battled to the closest match with a 6-4 defeat at the #3 doubles position.
Emerson Donaldson put up the best effort in singles play as she fell 6-4, 6-2 at the #2 singles position.
Abigail Kallio also put up a strong fight and nearly pulled out the first set before falling 7-5, 6-0 at the #5 singles position.
With the loss, the Fightin' Engineers fall to 1-4 on the season. The team returns to action on Sunday, February 16, as they host the IU-Kokomo Cougars at 11 AM at the Terre Haute Tennis and Pickleball Club.
