Men's Tennis Begins Tournament Run Facing Franklin in HCAC Semifinal

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team will begin tournament play, facing Franklin in the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament on Saturday, May 3, at 10 AM.  

ROSE-HULMAN MEN'S TENNIS NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 11-9 overall and 7-0 in the HCAC this season.
* The team claimed the HCAC regular season title to earn a first-round bye in the HCAC Tournament. 
* The team wrapped up their regular season, defeating Transylvania to claim the regular season title with a final score of 4-3.
Grant Paradowski leads the team with 14 singles wins this season. 
* Paradowski broke a career milestone, becoming just the sixth Fightin' Engineer to surpass 100 career total wins. Paradowski ranks sixth all-time with 106 career total wins. 
Ervin Perkowski is another standout in singles play this year with 12 wins.
Chris Lian is the team's top doubles player with 14 wins in doubles competition this season. 
* Rose-Hulman was picked as the favorite to repeat as HCAC Champions in the preseason coaches poll, receiving 48 points and six of the seven first-place votes.
* The Fightin' Engineers ended last season winning their eighth conference regular season and tournament title in program history. They advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time, where they fell 5-3 to Illinois Tech in the opening round.
* With a win, Rose-Hulman will advance to the HCAC Championship against the winner of #2 Transylvania and #3 Anderson on Sunday, May 4, at 10:30 AM.

FRANKLIN NOTES:
* Franklin stands at 8-12 overall this season and 3-4 in the HCAC. 
* The Grizzlies finished the regular season, earning the #5 seed in the HCAC Tournament. 
* The team comes off a win over Hanover in the opening round of the HCAC Tournament with a final score of 4-1. 
* The Grizzlies are led by Clark Hersam with 10 singles wins this year. 
* Shay Kyser is the team's top doubles player with 11 doubles wins on the season. 
* With a win, Franklin will advance to the HCAC Championship against the winner of #2 Transylvania and #3 Anderson on Sunday, May 4, at 10:30 AM.

FRANKLIN SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series against Franklin with a record of 38-9 against the Grizzlies. 
* The team has won 13 matches in a row against Franklin, dating back to the 2012-13 season. 
* The teams faced off last year in the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament, with Rose-Hulman earning the win with a final score of 5-2.
