LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Rose-Hulman softball team ended their incredible season after a loss to Franklin in the HCAC Tournament with a final score of 6-4.
Rose-Hulman got off to a strong start, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead with runs scored by
Jessica Newsom,
Aubrey Smith,
Phoebe Worstell, and
Emily Hodges.
Franklin answered with three runs across the first and second innings to make the score 4-3. The Grizzlies took the lead on a single in the third that scored two runs, moving the score to 5-4.
Franklin added another run in the fourth to seal the win over the Fightin' Engineers.
Newsom finished the game going 3-4 at the plate with one run scored. Smith was another standout at the plate, going 2-4 with one run and one RBI.
Worstell suffered the loss in the circle, pitching 5.0 innings with five strikeouts.
The Fightin' Engineers softball team finishes the 2025 season with a record of 19-16 overall.
