DePauw Takes Over Second Half Against Fightin' Engineers

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman was unable to keep their unbeaten streak at home, as the DePauw Tigers defeated the Fightin' Engineers 2-0.

Freshman keeper Justin Burns recorded his first save of the day in the 13th minute, as he made a diving deflection on the right side of the goal.

The Fightin' Engineers would nearly get on the board early, as sophomore Cameron Hannah's header off a corner kick beat the keeper, before ricocheting off the post.

The Tigers had a great opportunity to take the lead in the 27th minute. The team attempted a shot on goal from point-blank range, which was deflected away by Burns on a tremendous diving save. They would add another shot three minutes later, which also hit off the crossbar.

Junior Chase Kedzior recorded a shot on target in the 31st minute, resulting in keeper Sam Ortner catching his high shot.

The first half would end in a 0-0 tie, with nearly identical stats. Both teams recorded three saves and two corner kicks, while DePauw outshot Rose-Hulman 5-4.

Burns would record his fourth and final save of the game early into the second half. Cole Bubalo attempted a bicycle kick from inside the box, which was hit away by Burns on the right side.

The Tigers would take advantage of a free kick they were awarded in the 70th minute just outside the left corner of the box. AJ Hockstock launched a shot into the top right corner of the goal, putting DePauw in the lead.

With all the momentum on DePauw's side, Matthew Fogo scored an 84th-minute goal on an assist from Roman Girandola, sealing the 2-0 win.

Rose-Hulman will look to bounce back Saturday, September 13, as they host the Millikin Big Blue at 4 PM.
