Rose-Hulman Battles Berea in Grey Matters Awareness Game

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers will compete in their first HCAC match-up as they go up against the Berea Mountaineers. The Grey Matters Awareness Game will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 1 PM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman is currently 2-5-1 this season.
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off consecutive 1-0 defeats on the road to Denison and DePauw.
* The defensive trio of Taylor Beede, Ally Smith, and Vianey Garcia played all 90 minutes of both games.
* RHIT has gone 2-2 at home this season.
* Senior Brooke Spurlock recorded clean sheets in both of Rose-Hulman's wins.
* Rose-Hulman ranks second in the conference with an average of 1.25 goals allowed per game.
* The Fightin' Engineers also lead the HCAC with just 28 shots on goal allowed.
 
BEREA NOTES:
* The Mountaineers have posted the best record amongst all HCAC teams at 6-3.
* They are currently on a three-game shutout winning streak.
* Berea is coming off a 7-0 victory against Alice Lloyd College.
* Sara Knight has scored an HCAC-leading eight goals while adding one assist.
* Jessica Powell ranks second in the conference with six goals, while adding one assist as well.
* Jocelyn Santiago has added three goals off the bench.
* Kristin Fischli has recorded a team-best four assists.
* Elana Horne has recorded a 3-1 record in goal with 16 saves and a 72.7% save percentage.
* Addison Mclaughlin added a 2-2 record in goal, hauling in 14 saves and a 63.6% save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
* This will be the second-ever match-up between Rose-Hulman and Berea.
* Rose-Hulman defeated Berea 3-1 on the road last season.
* Junior Riley Heasley scored the opening goal in the 11th minute on assists from Beede and senior Lauren Marquardt.
* Junior Emma Johns recorded a 36th-minute goal on an assist from Smith.
* Kyra Hicks scored the final goal one minute into the second half, with Jayden Gibson dishing out the assist.
* The Fightin' Engineers finished the match with 14 shots on goal and 22 total shots.
