Fightin' Engineers Face Off with Reigning National Champions

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Rose-Hulman heads to St. Louis, Mo., for their first road match-up of the season as the Fightin' Engineers take on WashU on Sunday, September 7 at 2 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman opened the year with a 5-0 victory over in-city rivals, St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
* Sophomore Iliana Hernandez scored a game-high two goals in the second half, in 39 minutes of action.
* Hernandez recorded five shots on goal and seven total shots.
* Following her performance, Hernandez was named the HCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
* RHIT's first two goals of the match were scored on headers off corner kicks.
* Junior Emma Johns and freshman Gaby Hansen scored those two header goals in the first half.
* Junior Megan Hall scored the fifth and final goal of the match in the 68th minute.
* Junior Ally Smith dished out a game-high two assists on both of Hernandez's goals.
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Ohio Northern.
* Senior Brooke Spurlock recorded four saves in the match.
* Junior Vianey Garcia has played in all 90 minutes in both games this season.

WASHU NOTES:
* WashU is the defending Division III National Champion.
* In their six NCAA Tournament games last season, WashU outscored its opponents 15-1.
* The Bears have been ranked the #1 team in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
* WashU opened the season with an 8-0 win over Westminster.
* Seven different players scored in the match.
* Freshman Heidi Fesler recorded a game-high two goals.
* The Bears are coming off a 6-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
* Senior Grace Ehlert scored a game-high two goals in the match.

SERIES HISTORY:
* This will be Rose-Hulman's seventh career game against the WashU Bears.
* Rose-Hulman trails in the series, 0-5-1.
* Rose-Hulman has faced WashU for four consecutive seasons, recording a 0-0 tie in 2022.
* This will be the second year in a row where Rose-Hulman faces WashU as the #1-ranked team in the country.
* The Bears are coming off a 5-0 victory over Rose-Hulman in 2024.
