Men's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back Against Hanover on Wednesday Night

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team returns home to take on Hanover College on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the HCAC this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have lost their last two conference games to Mount St. Joseph, 62-58, and Transylvania, 65-63.
* Rose-Hulman currently stands in second place in the conference standings. 
Joey Schmitz currently leads the team with 13.3 points per game and also leads the team in steals with 26.
Christian Torres leads the team on the glass with 8.4 rebounds per game, while also totaling 10.6 points per game this season and an impressive 60.6% field goal percentage.
Evan Gentile has been another difference maker, averaging 10.1 points per game while shooting 38.6% from beyond the arc. 
* The Fightin' Engineers are currently shooting 47.1% as a team and 32.4% from beyond the arc. 
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish second in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 72 points and three first-place votes. 
* The team returns Second Team All-HCAC and HCAC Newcomer of the Year honoree Joey Schmitz for his sophomore season.
Cole PrideDaniel Savovic, and Kobe Stoudemire have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Nick Sales in his fourth season with the Fightin' Engineers. 
* After facing Hanover, Rose-Hulman will hit the road to take on Franklin on Saturday, January 17, at 1 PM.

HANOVER NOTES:
* The Panthers stand at the top of the HCAC with an overall record of 10-4 and a conference record of 6-1. 
* Hanover has won their last four games, most recently defeating Earlham with a final score of 76-55. 
* Malachi McNair leads the team, averaging a double-double with 17.2 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.
* McNair has also been a defensive standout, leading the team with 13 blocked shots.
* CJ Walls also averages double figures in scoring with 14.1 points per game. 
* Cam Freeman has been the facilitator with a team-high 69 assists this season.
* Hanover has been picked to finish third in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 62 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Jon Miller in his 18th season with the Panthers. 
* After facing Rose-Hulman, Hanover will travel to take on Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, January 17, at 2 PM.

* Rose-Hulman trails the all-time series against Hanover with a record of 46-62 against the Panthers. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have lost their last nine games against Hanover, dating back to the 2021-22 season.
