TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of men's swimming and diving. Rose-Hulman has swept this week's awards with
Andrew Geiger earning HCAC Diver of the Week and
Trevor Wiley claiming HCAC Swimmer of the Week.
The men's swimming and diving team competed in two dual meets last week. The team fell short to Valparaiso with a score of 157-48, before bouncing back to defeat Illinois Wesleyan with a final score of 117-73.
Across the week,
Trevor Wiley was the standout for the Fightin' Engineers. Against Valparaiso, the biomedical engineering major earned the team's lone event win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.23. Wiley also earned a second-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.11. The Indianapolis, Indiana, native then led the team to a dual meet victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. He earned three event wins in the 200 butterfly (1:56.92), the 200 backstroke (2:02.65), and as a member of the 200 medley relay team (1:42.29).
Andrew Geiger was exceptional for the Fightin' Engineers in their dual meet victory over the Titans. The mechanical engineering major from Independence, Kentucky, claimed two event wins, winning the 1-meter (208.65) and 3-meter (141.70) diving competitions.
This is the third athlete of the week award for Wiley and the first award for Geiger in their college careers with the Fightin' Engineers.
The Rose-Hulman men's swimming and diving team will return home to host Senior Day against Manchester on Friday, January 16, at 6 PM.
