NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team picked up a road win over Manchester with a final score of 73-59. This is the third win in a row for the Fightin' Engineers and advances them to 11-6 overall and 8-2 in the HCAC.
Daniel Savovic tied his career-high with 25 points to lead the Fightin' Engineers. He finished the game shooting 10-15 from the field and 5-8 from beyond the arc. He also hauled in five rebounds and recorded four assists.
Joey Schmitz also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points on the night. Schmitz and
Jack Jenniges led the team on the glass with six rebounds each.
Rose-Hulman had a strong start to the contest, jumping to an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes. This set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Fightin' Engineers stretched their lead to as much as 15 points in the first half, with the score at 19-4 with 11:36 remaining. Rose maintained their advantage heading into halftime with the score at 40-26.
The Fightin' Engineers kept their foot on the gas in the second half, maintaining a double-digit lead for most of the period. The team held on to defeat the Spartans and earn their eighth conference win of the season.
Rose-Hulman finished the game shooting 47.5% from the field and 40.6% on three-pointers as a team. The team also won the rebounding battle, out-rebounding the Spartans 36-30.
The Fightin' Engineers will continue conference play, traveling to take on Berea on Friday, January 23, at 6 PM.
