Men's Basketball Looks to Protect Perfect HCAC Record in Road Test Against MSJ

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will hit the road to continue their HCAC schedule, facing MSJ on Wednesday, January 7, at 7:30 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 8-4 overall and undefeated at the top of the conference at 5-0 in the HCAC this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers come off a big conference win, defeating Berea with a final score of 96-64.
* The team posted the second-most three-pointers in a single game in Rose-Hulman history in the win over Berea, totaling 17 triples. 
Joey Schmitz currently leads the team with 15.2 points per game, shooting 50.7% from the floor and 45.8% from beyond the arc.
* Schmitz also leads the team in steals with 24 and minutes, averaging 30.6 minutes per game. 
Cole Pride has also been a standout, recording 13.4 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and a team-high 18 blocked shots. 
Christian Torres leads the team on the glass with 8.4 rebounds per game, while also totaling 10.9 points per game this season and an impressive 63.3% field goal percentage.
* Evan Gentile has been another difference maker, averaging 10.1 points per game while shooting 46.6% from beyond the arc. 
* The Fightin' Engineers are currently shooting 48.7% as a team and 34.4% from beyond the arc. 
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish second in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 72 points and three first-place votes. 
* The team returns Second Team All-HCAC and HCAC Newcomer of the Year honoree Joey Schmitz for his sophomore season.
Cole PrideDaniel Savovic, and Kobe Stoudemire have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Nick Sales in his fourth season with the Fightin' Engineers. 
* After facing MSJ, Rose-Hulman will continue their conference schedule, traveling to take on Transylvania on Saturday, January 10, at 3 PM. 

MOUNT ST. JOSEPH NOTES:
* The Mount St. Joseph Lions stand at 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the HCAC.
* The team comes off a win over Manchester with a final score of 65-44. 
* Collin Buck leads the team with 13.8 points per game this season. 
* Jason Lavender also averages double figures with 11.5 points per game. 
* Cooper Ollis is the team's top rebounder with 5.8 rebounds per game, and also adds 10.3 points per game. 
* The Lions are currently shooting 45.8% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc as a team this season.
* The Mount was picked to finish sixth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 43 points. 
* MSJ is led by Head Coach Toby Carrigan in his 15th season with the Lions.
* The MSJ Lions will continue their conference schedule, hosting Anderson on Saturday, January 10, at 4 PM.
