Men's Basketball Travels to Transylanvia for HCAC Showdown

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will hit the road to continue their HCAC schedule, facing Transylvania on Saturday, January 10, at 3 PM.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 8-5 overall and 5-1 in the HCAC this season. 
* The Fightin' Engineers come off their first conference loss of the season to the Mount St. Joseph Lions with a final score of 62-58.
Joey Schmitz currently leads the team with 14.2 points per game, shooting 48.6% from the floor and 44% from beyond the arc.
* Schmitz also leads the team in steals with 26 and minutes, averaging 30.2 minutes per game. 
Cole Pride has also been a standout, recording 13.4 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and a team-high 18 blocked shots. 
Christian Torres leads the team on the glass with 8.6 rebounds per game, while also totaling 10.8 points per game this season and an impressive 61.6% field goal percentage.
Evan Gentile has been another difference maker, averaging 10.2 points per game while shooting 41.5% from beyond the arc. 
* The Fightin' Engineers are currently shooting 47.6% as a team and 33.2% from beyond the arc. 
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish second in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 72 points and three first-place votes. 
* The team returns Second Team All-HCAC and HCAC Newcomer of the Year honoree Joey Schmitz for his sophomore season.
Cole PrideDaniel Savovic, and Kobe Stoudemire have also been named players to watch by the HCAC. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Nick Sales in his fourth season with the Fightin' Engineers. 
* After facing Transylvania, Rose-Hulman will return home to host Hanover on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM.

TRANSYLVANIA NOTES:
* Transylvania stands at 6-7 overall this season and 3-3 in the HCAC. 
* The team currently ranks sixth in the conference standings. 
* The Pioneers come off a loss to Hanover with a final score of 73-71. 
* Hunter Barr leads the team with 18.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season. 
* Drew Marshall also averaged double digits in scoring with 13.6 points per game, while adding 7.3 rebounds per game. 
* Dakota Capps has been able to facilitate the Pioneers' offense with a team-high 60 assists on the year. 
* The Pioneers were picked to finish fourth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 56 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Brian Lane in his 25th season with Transylvania.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, Transylvania will host Franklin on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 PM.

TRANSYLVANIA SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Transylvania with a record of 18-27 against the Pioneers.
* The Fightin' Engineers fell short in their last meeting during the 2024-25 season with a final score of 70-65.
