TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers fell short of the Hanover Panthers by a score of 1-0 on Homecoming.
Emma Johns nearly scored her third goal of the season just two minutes into the match. Her shot beat Hanover's keeper, where it proceeded to bounce off both posts before it was kicked away.
Alicia Gonzalez recorded her first save in the 21st minute, and she would add an impressive diving catch for a save in the 37th minute.
The Panthers would be awarded their first corner kick of the game with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Their cross was headed away by Rose-Hulman's defense but was recovered by Maddi Mosby who headed in the goal for Hanover.
Hanover earned a fast break early in the second half, where their shot from the top of the box was saved by Gonzalez.
The Fightin' Engineers were able to add a pair of shots on goal from
Makayla Doherty in the 64th and
Vianey Garcia in the 86th minutes, which were both saved by Kendall Moore.
Rose-Hulman added a team save in the final two minutes, as Hanover's shot to the left side of the goal was kicked away by
Taylor Beede.
Hanover would conclude the match with a 1-0 win, where they recorded seven shots on goal to Rose-Hulman's three.
RHIT will stay in Terre Haute as they host the Anderson Ravens on Wednesday, October 7 at 7 PM.
