Men's Basketball Battles the Beavers on Saturday in HCAC Action

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will continue their conference schedule on the road against Bluffton this Saturday, February 14, at 1 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman stands at 14-9 overall and 11-5 in the HCAC this season. 
* The team stands in a tie for third place in the HCAC with Mount St. Joseph. Both teams are behind Anderson and Transylvania in the top spot at 12-4.
* The Fightin' Engineers come off a pivotal win over MSJ on Wednesday with a final score of 64-60.
Joey Schmitz currently leads the team with 13.6 points per game while shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc.
Christian Torres leads the team on the glass with 7.1 rebounds per game, while also totaling 9.0 points per game this season.
Cole Pride has been another difference maker, totaling 13.2 points per game and a team-high 22 blocked shots.
Evan Gentile has been a standout freshman for the squad, averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting 37.2% from beyond the arc. 
Daniel Savovic is another effective scorer, averaging 10.4 points per game and totaling 56 assists on the year. 
Nate Smith has also made an impact this season as a freshman, leading the team with 70 assists and 42 steals.
* Rose-Hulman has been selected to finish second in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 72 points and three first-place votes. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Nick Sales in his fourth season with the Fightin' Engineers. 
* After traveling to face Bluffton, the Fightin' Engineers will wrap up their regular season on the road against Earlham on Tuesday, February 17, at 7:30 PM.

BLUFFTON NOTES:
* The Bluffton Beavers stand at 9-14 this season and 7-9 in the HCAC. 
* Bluffton currently ranks seventh in the HCAC standings with two games remaining in the regular season.
* The team comes off a win over Manchester on Wednesday with a final score of 73-68.
* Nevin Robson leads the team with 16.3 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game.
* Andre Irvin has been another standout with 15.1 points per game this season. 
* Ian Snelling is the other player averaging double figures with 12.5 points per game.
* The Beavers were picked to finish eighth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 27 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Seth Clark in his third year with the program.
* After hosting Rose-Hulman, the Beavers will host Anderson for Senior Night on Wednesday, February 18, at 7:30 PM.

BLUFFTON SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series against Bluffton with a record of 26-10 against the Beavers. 
* The Fightin' Engineers have an 11-game winning streak against Bluffton, dating back to the 2018-19 season. 
* Rose defeated Bluffton earlier this season with a final score of 85-78. 
* The last time Bluffton beat Rose-Hulman was during the 2018-19 season with a final score of 55-49.
