Rose-Hulman Concludes Season at HCAC Quarterfinals

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Fightin' Engineers dropped to the Anderson Ravens by a score of 75-68 in the Quarterfinals of the HCAC Tournament.
 
The Ravens were able to jump out to an early 10-4 lead, with four of their five field goals coming inside the paint. Kaia Peterson would answer with a steal and fast break layup, and CK Gallegos Rodriguez would later tie the game at 10 apiece on a two-point jumper.
 
María Godoy Rodriguez would put Rose-Hulman ahead as she knocked down a two-point basket of her own. Anderson would record a steal late in the first quarter, but their fastbreak layup was denied by a chase-down block from Sophia Reese.
 
Julia Meyer scored the team's first three pointer of the game from the top of the key, and Peterson added a layup off her offensive rebound to give Rose-Hulman a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
 
The Fightin' Engineers would extend their lead to 22-16 as Emma Schipp scored a three pointer early in the second. Following an Anderson layup, Schipp added a jumper from the free throw line, and Gallegos Rodriguez swished a three of her own to extend the lead to seven.
 
Reese scored a pair of layups on back-to-back possessions, which included an and-one bucket. Schipp closed out Rose-Hulman's first half scoring with a mid-range jump shot as the team concluded the period with a 38-32 lead.
 
Katelyn Fennell caught fire to start the third quarter as she knocked down a pair of three pointers. Emma Schipp would stretch Rose-Hulman's lead to ten at the free throw line, before Anderson responded with a 7-0 run to make it a three-point game. Gallegos Rodriguez wrapped up the third with another three point shot as RHIT entered the fourth up 53-31.
 
Anderson was able to take back the lead early in the fourth quarter, as they scored three straight layups. Reese would score on a two-point jumper, and Fennell cashed another three pointer to put RHIT ahead 60-59. She would continue to take over the game, as she scored her fourth three pointer of the game a minute later, which put Rose-Hulman up by two.
 
María Godoy Rodriguez added to the Fightin' Engineers' lead by scoring on an off-balance pull-up jumper, and Schipp converted a three pointer to make it a 68-63 game with three minutes remaining.
 
Anderson scored on a pair of layups to cut the lead to one, and they were able to draw a foul, capitalizing on both free throws to take a 69-68 lead. With Rose-Hulman forced to foul, the Ravens shot a perfect 6-6 at the line, where they were able to close out the 75-68 win.
 
Emma Schipp led Rose-Hulman with 18 points and eight rebounds while blocking one shot. She shot 7-16 from the floor, 2-4 from beyond the arc, and 2-2 at the free throw line.
 
CK Gallegos Rodriguez put up 12 points, shooting 5-10 from the floor and 2-3 from beyond the arc. She recorded four rebounds, a team-high three assists and one blocked shot.
 
Katelyn Fennell dropped 12 points as well, shooting 4-8 from three-point range. She hauled in six rebounds and dished out two assists.
 
Sophia Reese added 11 points, shooting a perfect 5-5 at the free throw line. She recorded six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
 
Rose-Hulman concludes the 2025-26 season with their third consecutive trip to the HCAC Tournament and an 8-10 HCAC record. The Fightin' Engineers played their best basketball at the end of the season, winning four of their last five games of the regular season to qualify for the playoffs.
