TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team defeated Franklin in HCAC play this Sunday with a final score of 7-0. This advances the team to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC this season.
The Fightin' Engineers started the match strong, sweeping the doubles competition for the doubles point.
The No. 1 team of
Chris Lian and
Tim Eckermann excelled with a 6-3 victory. The No. 2 doubles team of
Eli McIntyre and
Ervin Perkowski earned a win, 7-5.
Andrew Leonard and
Ephraim Guthrie teamed up at the No. 3 spot with an impressive 6-3 win.
Rose-Hulman continued to dominate, sweeping the singles play to complete the shutout victory over the Grizzlies.
Eckermann represented the team at No. 1 singles with a win, 6-1, 6-1. Perkowski picked up a win at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Guthrie rounded out the top three singles players with a win at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2)
Rose-Hulman will return to action in their tri-match on Saturday, March 28, hosting Wabash and Principia at 10 AM and 4 PM.
