Fightin' Engineers Score 20 Runs in Blowout over Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Fightin' Engineers scored 20 runs in a game for the third time this season as they took down Blackburn in seven innings, by a score of 20-4.
 
The Fightin' Engineers tied their season-high with four doubles, and they had four different players score three runs.
 
Jackson Summers scored three runs with one double, and he hit a two-run homer atop the third inning, which put Rose-Hulman ahead 10-0. Issei Takahashi also scored three runs with two RBIS, while hitting 3-4 at the plate.
 
TJ Pipkins led the team with five hits in six at-bats, and he recorded a game-high four RBIs. Pipkins' performance was highlighted by a three-RBI double in the fifth inning, where the Fightin' Engineers were able to stretch their lead to 19-2.
 
Matthew Furtado and Connor O'Connell would each score three runs, with Furtado adding one RBI and one double. Noah Rasmussen added two hits and two runs, with his game being highlighted by a two-RBI double to center field in the third inning.
 
Sam Erickson scored two runs with three RBIs, and Danny Jaso would post the best game of his freshman season as he hit 2-3 with two runs, while tying Pipkins with a game-high four RBIs. Jaso recorded an RBI in three different at bats, which included a two-RBI single in the fourth inning.
 
Brad Nardi pitched the first two innings of the game, where he struck out three batters without giving up a hit or a run. Coming off his Senior Day on Sunday, Nicholas Douglas closed out the final inning of the game, where he struck out all three batters he faced.
 
Rose-Hulman will stay on the road as they face the Franklin Grizzlies on Saturday, April 18, at 12 and 3 PM.
