TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team picked up a win over the Manchester Spartans on Senior Day with a final score of 7-0. This advances the team to 13-7 overall and undefeated at 7-0 in the HCAC.
The team took the time before the match to honor their senior class, including
Ryan Burch,
Andrew Leonard,
Renato Prado, and
Jonathon Stadler. The seniors were recognized for their outstanding leadership and dedication to the men's tennis program.
The Fightin' Engineers won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. The No. 1 team of
Chris Lian and
Tim Eckermann defeated their opponents, 6-0. The team of
Yuki Usuda and
Jonathon Stadler earned a win by default at the No. 3 spot.
Rose-Hulman completed the sweep, winning all six of the singles matches. Eckermann represented the team at the No. 1 spot with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
Ephraim Guthrie picked up a win at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Renato Prado rounded out the top three singles performances with a victory in the No. 3 spot with scores of 6-2, 6-0.
The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team secured the HCAC Regular Season Title this season, clinching the #1 seed and a first-round bye in the HCAC Tournament. The team will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, on Saturday, May 2, to compete in the HCAC Semifinal round against the winner of the #4 seed and #5 seed.
