PENDLETON, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team picked up an exciting win over the Hanover Panthers in the semifinal round of the HCAC Tournament on Saturday. The team defeated the Panthers with a final score of 4-3 to advance to 12-8 overall on the season.
The Fightin' Engineers jumped in front after earning the point in doubles competition.
Lia Taylor and
Addie Patterson earned a win at No. 1 doubles with a final score of 7-5.
Paige Mills and
Camille Clark picked up a victory at No 3 doubles with a score of 6-1.
Rose closed out the match, winning three of the six singles matches to defeat the Panthers. Donaldson took care of her opponent at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Nova Gladden was another singles winner with a victory at the No. 6 spot with scores of 6-1, 6-4.
After that the match was tied 3-3. It all came down to the No. 3 singles match. After falling in the first set, Mills bounced back to win two straight with set scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. This would be the deciding point to earn the Fightin' Engineers the win.
Rose-Hulman will face Transylvania in the HCAC Women's Tennis Championship Match tomorrow, on Sunday, May 3, at 10:30 AM.
