PENDLETON, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's tennis team came away with the HCAC Tournament Title after defeating Transylvania in the HCAC Championship with a final score of 4-1. The win improves the team to 13-8 overall this season.
This is the third HCAC Tournament Title for the Fightin' Engineers women's tennis team in program history and their first HCAC Championship win since the 2016 season. 2016 was also the last time the men's and women's teams both won the HCAC Tournament.
Emerson Donaldson was a standout the whole weekend, earning HCAC Tournament MVP for her efforts.
The Fightin' Engineers got off to a strong start, claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 team of Donaldson and
Nova Gladden took down their opponents with a score of 6-3. The No. 3 doubles team of
Paige Mills and
Camille Clark took care of business in a shutout win with a score of 6-0.
Rose-Hulman closed out the match with three singles wins to defeat the Pioneers. Donaldson earned a dominant win at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-0, 6-3.
Autumn Korey was sensational with a shutout win at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Gladden was the other singles winner at the No. 6 spot with scores of 6-1, 6-1.
The Fightin' Engineers have now earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament next weekend. The team will learn who they play and when in the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 4, at 12 PM on NCAA.com.
