TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman athletic department will be featuring multiple student-athletes across all of their varsity sports teams this summer in the Fightin' Engineers to Watch media campaign.

Women's cross country's Fightin' Engineer to Watch is Jocelyn Onstot as she enters her senior season.

Onstot has had a terrific career at Rose-Hulman, where she recorded second-place finishes at both the 2023 and 2025 HCAC Championships, recording times of 23:53.01 in 2023 and 22:50.80 in 2025. She has hauled in two All-HCAC First Team selections as well as the 2023 HCAC Newcomer of the Year. Onstot has also thrived in the classroom as she has earned CSC Academic All-District Honors the past two seasons, while becoming the first female cross country athlete in school history to earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Award.

The Cary, Illinois, native has also built a legendary career on the track and field team. Onstot qualified for the 2026 Outdoor National Championships in the 3,000m-steeplechase, earning All-American Second Team honors with a tenth-place finish in 10:38.80. She has been a member of two HCAC Indoor and Outdoor Championship teams, and she has claimed ten individual HCAC Championships across her career. Onstot has received Athlete of the Year honors in all three seasons, earning HCAC Indoor Distance Athlete of the Year in 2024 and 2026, as well as the HCAC Outdoor Distance Athlete of the Year in 2025. She has set eight school records and two HCAC records, which came in the outdoor 3,000m-steeplechase (10:31.46) and the indoor mile run (4:54.32).

Onstot is pursuing a double major in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. She is spending her summer completing her second internship at ThermalTech Engineering in Michigan, while also spending time with her cross country teammates. "Every summer the cross country team takes a trip to the Dunes," said Onstot. "It is great to get the team together, where we get to go on a long run while also spending time at the beach."

During her time at Rose-Hulman, Onstot has enjoyed the challenge that comes with being a student-athlete. "I appreciate the opportunity to compete at a high level while balancing a heavy course load," said Onstot. "Dedicated time to athletics helps motivate me to start assignments earlier, which is very beneficial."

The Fightin' Engineers will open the season at the Franklin Grizzly Invitational on Saturday, September 5 at 10 AM.
