TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rose-Hulman kicks off the 2026 season at home against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The in-city rivalry will be played on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:30 PM.
 
ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers are coming off an 11-7-2 season, going 9-1-1 against HCAC opponents.
* Rose-Hulman claimed the 2025 HCAC Tournament Championship, defeating Hanover 1-0.
* The team qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in school history, where they dropped to #6 Case Western Reserve.
* Head Coach, Amy Helliwell has led Rose-Hulman to a top four finish in the HCAC in each of the past seven seasons.
* Junior Sydnee Schuler recorded a team-high 19 points, scoring six goals with seven assists.
* Schuler's seven assists ranked second in the HCAC last season.
* She scored two goals while adding one assist in Rose-Hulman's 3-1 victory over Transylvania in the HCAC Semifinals.
* Junior Iliana Hernandez ranks second amongst returners with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
* She scored goals in consecutive games against Hanover and Franklin and added assists in back-to-back games against Manchester and Transylvania.
* Sophomore Makayla Doherty scored three goals off the bench, highlighted by a two-goal performance against Manchester.
* Seniors Emma Johns and Riley Heasley, and junior Lena Darini each dished out two assists.
* Johns scored two goals against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and Berea, and Darini scored the opening goal against Webster.
* The defensive trio of seniors Ally Smith and Vianey Garcia, and junior Taylor Beede led the HCAC with just 0.71 goals allowed per game.
* Smith added three assists on the season while leading all field players with 1,679 minutes.
* Garcia ranked second amongst field players with 1,555 minutes of action.
 
SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS NOTES:
* The Pomeroys posted a record of 1-15-1 last season.
* The team's lone win came against Kentucky Christian by a score of 3-0.
* Saint Mary-of-the-Woods returns just one goal scorer from last season in sophomore Cyd'Nei Strader.
* Strader scored the opening goal of the team's victory over Kentucky Christian.
* Senior Blair Pope secured a 68.4% save percentage with 13 saves in three appearances.
* Sophomore Veronica Redmond leads all returners with 885 minutes played.
* Senior Lauren Craighead ranks second amongst returners with 774 minutes.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman will face Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for the 22nd time in program history.
* The Fightin' Engineers have dominated the series with a record of 18-1-2.
* RHIT has either won or tied in their last 18 games.
* The Fightin' Engineers defeated the Pomeroys 5-0 in their season opener last year.
* Junior Iliana Hernandez led the team with two goals while senior Ally Smith recorded a team-high two assists.
* The Fightin' Engineers defense did not give up a single shot on goal.
* The 5-0 win was Rose-Hulman's second largest margin of victory during the 2025 season.
