Rose-Hulman Football Hosts DePauw in Season Opener

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers football team will host DePauw in their season opener on Saturday, September 5, at 7 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fourth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 21 points.
* The Fightin' Engineers finished last season with a 3-7 overall record and the third-best conference record in the league at 3-3. 
* Rose returns six All-HCAC honorees from the 2025 campaign. 
* The team's top returners include First Team All-HCAC defensive back Antoinio Barnes and Second Team All-HCAC and Third Team All-Region defensive back Wyatt Bell.
* Other returning All-HCAC student-athletes include linebacker Rudy Griffing, linebacker Austin Hastings, defensive lineman Augustus Shryock, and running back Alexander Marsteller.
* Marsteller is the team's top rusher, ranking second on the team last year with 579 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
* Austin Porter is the top returning wide receiver with 23 catches for 195 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
* Rudy Griffing led the team in tackles last season with 87, while tallying 3.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks.
* William Fleck was the sack leader for the Fightin' Engineers in 2025 with 5.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss.
* Augustus Shryock was another difference maker for the defense with a team-high 10.0 tackles for loss last season.
* The Fightin' Engineers are led by Head Coach Jeff Sokol, entering his 16th season at the helm of the football program. 
* After hosting DePauw, Rose-Hulman will hit the road to face Kalamazoo on Saturday, September 12, at 1 PM. 

#13 DEPAUW NOTES:
* DePauw enters the 2026 season ranked #13 in the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 Poll. 
* The Tigers have been picked to finish second in the NCAC Preseason Poll, earning 93 points and four first-place votes behind John Carroll.
* DePauw ended last season with a record of 10-2 overall and 7-1, which led to a playoff berth in the NCAA Tournament. 
* Scott Ballentine led the offense under center last year with 3,234 yards passing and 34 passing touchdowns, averaging 269.5 yards per game.
* Carson Johnson is the top returner at running back, totaling 441 yards rushing and four touchdowns last season.
* Palmer Samuels is the top returning receiver, earning Third Team Preseason All-American from d3football.com.
* Samuels totaled 38 catches, 451 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in the 2025 season.
* Toreeq Jimoh-Oyesigi recorded 48 tackles last season with 4.5 tackles for loss.
* Chris Green was another difference-maker on the defense with 4.5 sacks on the year.
* The team is led by Head Coach Brett Dietz in his sixth season with the Tigers.
* After facing Rose-Hulman, DePauw will travel to face WashU on Saturday, September 12, at 1 PM CT.

* Rose-Hulman has a record of 12-47 when facing DePauw across the program's history.
* The Fightin' Engineers have dropped nine straight games dating back to the 2004 season.
* The Tigers defeated Rose-Hulman last season with a final score of 40-0.
* The last time Rose-Hulman beat DePauw was during the 2003 season with a final score of 22-12.
