PARIS, Ky. – The Fightin' Engineers teed off the fall season by placing second overall at the Transylvania Invitational. Rose-Hulman recorded a team score of 620 (+44) across two rounds, finishing one point shy of tournament champions Christopher Newport.

Sophomore Lauren Slatton immediately engraved her name into the Rose-Hulman record books during her first ever tournament. The UAB transfer recorded a score of 67 (-5) on round one, where she surpassed the previous best single round score of 69 (-3) set by Rachel Zhang and Precious Saelee.

Slatton would follow up that performance with a round score of 73 (+1) on round two of the tournament. She finished the Transylvania Invitational as the Individual Champion with a score of 140 (-4), finishing four strokes ahead of second place finisher Sasha Belova of Kenyon at 144 (E).

Slatton's 36 round score of 140 (-4) is another Rose-Hulman record, where she overtook Precious Saelee's previous school best mark of 143 (-1) in 2023. Slatton finished the tournament with nine birdies, which ranked as the most out of anyone in the 65-golfer tournament.

Senior Elizabeth Ma also put together a great showing as she recorded a sixth place finish with a score of 152 (+8). Ma recorded three birdies across the tournament, highlighted by two birdies on the back nine of round two.

Freshman Zora Matthews tied for 14th-place in her collegiate debut with a score of 158 (+14). She totaled four birdies, with three coming on the front nine of round one.

Freshman Aslyn Haywood rounded out Rose-Hulman's scorers as she tied for 42nd-place with a 170 (+26) score. She hit two birdies, with one coming on each round of the competition.

The Fightin' Engineers will be back in action on Saturday, September 19 – Sunday, September 20 as they compete in the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic.
