Volleyball Travels East for Ohio Wesleyan Tournament This Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team will continue their schedule on the road at the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament this weekend. The team will face Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, September 18, at 5 PM. Rose-Hulman will then face Heidelberg and Kalamazoo on Saturday, September 19, at 10 AM and 12:30 PM. 

ROSE-HULMAN VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 1-6 overall this season.
* The team earned a win against Spalding in their season opener with a final score of 3-1. 
* Since then, Rose-Hulman has traveled to compete in some highly competitive tournaments to start the year.
* Greta Carlson leads the team with 77 kills, averaging 3.21 kills per set.
* Emma Blanton is another productive hitter with 54 kills, averaging 2.25 kills per set.  
* Keira Ohse matches Blanton with 54 kills and a 2.25 kills-per-set average this year.
* Julia Irmen has been able to set up her teammates this season with a team-high 162 assists, averaging 9.53 assists per game.
Kennedy Otwell leads the defense with 91 digs this season, averaging 3.79 digs per set. 
* Shae Clements is right behind her with 69 digs, averaging 3.14 digs per set.
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fifth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 48 points.
* The team returns three of their All-HCAC honorees from last year, including Second Team All-HCAC and Newcomer of the Year Greta Carlson
* Other Second Team All-HCAC returners include Keira Ohse and Emma Blanton.
* The Fightin' Engineers are led by Head Coach Rachel Delsi in her ninth season at Rose-Hulman.
* After competing in the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament, Rose-Hulman will host DePauw in their home opener on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 PM.

OHIO WESLEYAN VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Ohio Wesleyan stands at 2-5 overall this season. 
* The team comes off a huge five-set victory over #23 Hope with a score of 3-2.
* Jordanne Shannon and Natalie Dieball lead the team with 80 kills each and an identical 3.08 kills-per-set average.
* Jenna Ashbrook is the top setter for the team with 168 assists, averaging 6.72 assists per game.
* Avery Krause is the defensive standout with a team-high 151 digs, averaging 5.81 digs per set. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Kirsta Solberg Cobb in her 13th season with the Battling Bishops.
* Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series with a record of 6-4 against Ohio Wesleyan.
* Ohio Wesleyan won the last match they played during the 2015 season with a score of 3-1.
* After hosting their home tournament, Ohio Wesleyan will host Earlham on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 PM.

HEIDELBERG VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Heidelberg enters the weekend with a 7-3 record overall.
* The team has won four straight, with their most recent victory coming against Bethany with a score of 3-0.
* Emily Miller leads the team with 107 kills on the year, averaging 2.89 kills per set.
* Sophia Simon is another productive hitter with 102 kills, averaging 2.76 kills per set.
* Maddie Reed leads the team with 205 assists, averaging 5.54 assists per set.
* Reagan Davis is the top defender with 179 digs, averaging 4.84 digs per set.
* The team is led by Head Coach Jason Miller in his 27th season with the team.
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against Heidelberg with a record of 1-9.
* The teams last faced off during the 2021 season, with the Fightin' Engineers falling with a score of 3-0.
* After competing in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, Heidelberg will return home to host Tiffin on Monday, September 21, at 7 PM.

KALAMAZOO VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Kalamazoo stands at 2-5 overall this season.
* The team will face St. Mary's College on Wednesday, September 15, at 7 PM, before competing in the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament this weekend.
* Quaneice Dillard leads the team with 92 kills on the year, averaging 3.29 kills per set.
* Makala Goddard is the top setter with 244 assists on the season, averaging 9/38 assists per set.
* Ashley Zollman is the team's top defender with 146 digs, averaging 5.41 digs per set.
* The team is led by Head Coach Andi Phelps in her second year with the team.
* The Fightin' Engineers lead the all-time series against the Hornets with a record of 5-3 overall.
* The last time the teams faced off was during the 2023 season, with Rose-Hulman earning the win, 3-0.
* After competing in the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament, the Hornets will travel to face Anderson on Tuesday, September 22, at 7 PM.
