TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly award winners for the sport of football. Antonio Barnes was named HCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, and Cohen Peters claimed HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. 

Barnes led a highly motivated Rose-Hulman defense that shocked Albion in a huge comeback win with a score of 38-24. The senior electrical engineering major led the team with eight total tackles and recorded an interception in the third quarter that was returned for 53 yards for a touchdown, extending the Fightin' Engineers' lead to a two-score game, 31-21.

Peters was exceptional in the Fightin' Engineers' win over Albion. The freshman mechanical engineering major went a perfect five-for-five on extra points and hit a 51-yard field goal to give Rose-Hulman the lead at the end of the first half. His 51-yard strike is the third-longest made field goal in Rose-Hulman program history.

This is the first career Athlete of the Week award for both Peters and Barnes in their college careers with the Fightin' Engineers. 

Rose-Hulman football will enjoy a bye week before returning home for homecoming against Franklin on Saturday, October 3, at 2 PM.
