Slatton Secures First HCAC Women's Golfer of the Week After Dominating Performances

TERRE HAUTE. Ind. - The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has announced its weekly winner for women's golf. Lauren Slatton has been named the HCAC Women's Golfer of the Week.

At the Transylvania Invitational on September 13th-14th, the sophomore from McMinnville, Tennessee finished her first event with Rose-Hulman by breaking two school records. In the first round of play, Slatton finished the day with a score of 67 (-5) besting the previous single-round school record by two strokes. On day two, she finished one over par, ending with a final score of 140 (-4), breaking the Rose-Hulman Women's Golf 36-hole school record by three strokes. The sophomore netted nine birdies over both days, helping the team place second overall, while earning her first Individual Championship as a Fightin' Engineer.

Slatton continued her dominance at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic on September 19th and 20th. In the first round of play, the sophomore finished with a score of 65 (-7), netting six birdies and one eagle on a 445-yard par 5, breaking the school record she set the previous weekend. She helped Rose-Hulman secure a ninth-place finish, tying for first place overall with a score of 143 (-1) and securing her second consecutive Individual Championship.

This is the first HCAC Women's Golfer of the Week award for Slatton in her collegiate career at Rose-Hulman.

The Rose-Hulman Women's Golf Team will continue their season at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational on September 27th and 28th, playing a 36-hole weekend.
