Football Begins Conference Play Hosting Franklin on Homecoming Weekend

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers football team will welcome the Franklin Grizzlies to campus to begin HCAC play on Saturday, October 3, at 2 PM on Homecoming Weekend.

ROSE-HULMAN NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 2-1 overall after an exciting comeback win over Albion with a final score of 38-24.
* Cohen Peters was named the HCAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week and was listed on the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance.
* Peters was a difference maker for Rose-Hulman, hitting a 51-yard field goal and going a perfect five-for-five on extra points.
* His 51-yarder ranks as the third-longest field goal in Rose-Hulman football history. 
* Antonio Barnes earned HCAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for his efforts against Albion.
* Barnes totaled 8.0 tackles and recorded an interception that he returned for a 53-yard touchdown. 
* Brock Zanetell has been exceptional at the quarterback position for the Fightin' Engineers with 619 yards passing and four touchdowns. 
* Zanetell has also contributed in the run game with 58 yards rushing and one rushing touchdown. 
* Alexander Marsteller is the team's leading rusher with 188 yards and four rushing touchdowns. 
* Avery Cody has been the top receiver for Rose-Hulman with 18 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns this year.
* William Fleck has been a menace for the Fightin' Engineers this season with a team-high six sacks.
* Fleck currently leads the nation across all of NCAA DIII with six sacks this year.
* Joseph Coveliers is the team's leading tackler with 19 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and one sack. 
* Austin Hastings has been a turnover machine, totaling two interceptions and two fumble recoveries this season.
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fourth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 21 points.
* Rose returns six All-HCAC honorees from the 2025 campaign. 
* The team's top returners include First Team All-HCAC defensive back Antonio Barnes and Second Team All-HCAC and Third Team All-Region defensive back Wyatt Bell.
* Other returning All-HCAC student-athletes include linebacker Rudy Griffing, linebacker Austin Hastings, defensive lineman Augustus Shryock, and running back Alexander Marsteller.
* The Fightin' Engineers are led by Head Coach Jeff Sokol, entering his 16th season at the helm of the football program. 
* After hosting Franklin, the Fightin' Engineers will return to Cook Stadium to host Anderson on Saturday, October 10, at 2 PM. 

FRANKLIN NOTES:
* Franklin stands at 1-2 overall this season.
* The team comes off a loss to Calvin with a final score of 41-7. 
* Marshall Kmiecik leads the team at quarterback with 441 yards passing this season and five passing touchdowns. 
* Kmiecik also leads the team in rushing with 93 rushing yards this season.
* Greyson Clark follows him in the run game with 80 rushing yards this season.
* Owen Wright is the team's top wide receiver with 10 catches for 136 yards and three receiving touchdowns. 
* Drew Servies leads the team in tackles with 31.0 tackles and 17 solo tackles.
* Brayden Baker is another impact maker defensively with a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss. 
* The Franklin Grizzlies were selected to finish third in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 24 points. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Mike Leonard in his 19th year with the Grizzlies.
* After traveling to take on Rose-Hulman, Franklin will return home to host Mount St. Joseph for their Homecoming on Saturday, October 10, at 1:30 PM.

SERIES HISTORY:
* Rose-Hulman trails in the all-time series against the Grizzlies with a record of 30-43 against Franklin.
* The Fightin' Engineers have won their last six games against Franklin, dating back to the 2020 season.
* The last time both teams faced off was during the 2025 season, with Rose earning the win, 35-34.
* The last time Rose-Hulman lost to Franklin was during the 2019 season, with a final score of 29-28.
