GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Fightin' Engineers' win streak continued as they secured their most dominant victory of the season. Rose-Hulman took down the Greenville Panthers by a score of 7-1, improving to 3-0 on the year.
Junior
Sydnee Schuler quickly got Rose-Hulman on the board with a goal four minutes in, and she added her second goal of the game in the 11
th minute.
The Panthers would respond with a 19th-minute goal by Maddie Cooke, which cut the lead to one. It would only take four minutes for Rose-Hulman to put the momentum back on their side, as senior
Ally Smith's shot found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-1.
Sophomore
Makayla Doherty would score Rose-Hulman's first goal of the second half, which came in the 54
th minute. She would match Schuler with a team-high two goals in the 67
th minute, where her shot beat the keeper to make it a 5-1 game.
The Fightin' Engineers continued to thrive, with freshman
Delaney Untermeyer scoring her second goal of the season in the 75
th minute. With less than one minute remaining, sophomore
Ava Klaus recorded the first goal of her collegiate career to cap off a 7-1 victory.
Sophomore
Addison Lefler dished out a career-high two assists, while seniors
Riley Heasley and
Emma Johns, and freshman
Samantha Lyew each added one assist.
Rose-Hulman outshot Greenville 32-5 in the match, and they would attempt 16 shots on goal, while allowing just two shots on target. The team would also attempt eight corner kicks, while the Panthers were unable to attempt a corner kick for the entire game.
The Fightin' Engineers' seven goals are the most the team has scored in a game since 2022.
Rose-Hulman will return to Terre Haute as they host the reigning national champions, #1 WashU, on Thursday, September 10 at 7 PM.
