Women's Volleyball Travels to Compete in Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman women's volleyball team will hit the road to compete in the WLC Quadrangular this weekend, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. The Fightin' Engineers will face Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday, September 11, at 6 PM CT. Then the team will battle Wisconsin-Platteville and Millikin on Saturday, September 12, at 10 AM CT and 12 PM CT.

ROSE-HULMAN VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* The Fightin' Engineers stand at 1-3 overall this season.
* The team earned a win against Spalding in their season opener, then dropped three matches against competitive opponents at the UChicago Invitational.
* Emma Blanton leads the team with 45 kills, averaging 3.0 kills per set. 
* Greta Carlson is another productive hitter with 38 kills, averaging 2.53 kills per set. 
* Kennedy Otwell leads the defense with 56 digs this season, averaging 3.73 digs per set. 
* Blanton is right behind her with 33 digs, averaging 2.20 digs per set.
* Rose-Hulman has been picked to finish fifth in the HCAC Preseason Poll, earning 48 points.
* The team returns three of their All-HCAC honorees from last year, including Second Team All-HCAC and Newcomer of the Year Greta Carlson
* Other Second Team All-HCAC returners include Keira Ohse and Emma Blanton.
* The Fightin' Engineers are led by Head Coach Rachel Delsi in her ninth season at Rose-Hulman.
* After competing in the Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament, the team will travel to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament. 
* The team will face Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, September 18, at 5 PM, then face Heidelberg and Kalamazoo on Saturday, September 19, at 10 AM and 12:30 PM.

WISCONSIN LUTHERAN VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Wisconsin Lutheran stands at 1-3 overall this season. 
* The team's lone victory came against Saint Mary's (Minn.) with a final score of 3-1.
* The team will take on Carroll (Wis.) on Wednesday, September 9, at 6 PM CT before this weekend's tournament. 
* Ireland Zyzo has led the team so far this year with 37 kills, averaging 3.08 kills per set. 
* Elizabeth Ehlke is another hitter for the Warriors, totaling 26 kills and averaging 2.36 kills per set.
* Brooke Bartelt leads the team on defense with 54 digs this season, averaging 3.60 digs per set. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Jenilee Voss in her 10th season with the Warriors.
* This will be the first time that Rose-Hulman and Wisconsin Lutheran will face off in their program histories. 
* After hosting their home invite, the Warriors will travel to take on Ripon on Friday, September 18, at 3 PM CT. 

WISCONSIN-PLATTEVILLE VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Wisconsin-Platteville stands at 1-2 overall this season.
* The team's lone win came against Bethel University with a score of 3-1. 
* The Pioneers will travel to face Wartburg on Wednesday, September 9, before competing in the weekend tournament. 
* Brooklyn Radecke leads the team with 43 kills this season, averaging 3.91 kills per set. 
* Bria Johnston is another standout with 39 kills this year, averaging 3.55 kills per set. 
* Kennedey Barber is the top defender with 42 digs on the season, averaging 3.82 digs per set. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Samantha Birkicht in her 10th season with the Pioneers.
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time record of 0-3 against Wisconsin-Platteville.
* The team last played each other in 2023, with the Pioneers earning the win with a score of 3-0.
* After competing in the Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament, the Pioneers will travel to face Coe College on Wednesday, September 16, at 7 PM. 

MILLIKIN VOLLEYBALL NOTES:
* Millikin is 3-2 overall so far this season. 
* The team has earned wins over Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Rowan University, and New Paltz. 
* Maggye Smith leads the team with 37 kills on the year, averaging 2.64 kills per set. 
* Kyra Carothers is another productive hitter with 36 kills, averaging 2.00 kills per set. 
* Francesca Brandonisio is the team's top defender, totaling 69 digs and averaging 3.83 digs per set. 
* The team is led by Head Coach Whitney Nichols in her third season with the team. 
* Rose-Hulman has an all-time record of 2-19 against the Big Blue.
* The last time Rose-Hulman defeated Millikin was during the 2018 season with a score of 3-1.
* After competing in the Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament, the Big Blue will travel to face Greenville on Wednesday, September 16, at 7 PM CT.
