Ryan Kaveney

Ryan Kaveney enters his fifth year as Rose-Hulman assistant baseball coach in the upcoming 2026 season.

In his first season at Rose-Hulman, Kaveney helped coach a pitching that recorded the second most strikeouts in Rose-Hulman history with 314.  First-team all-HCAC selection Ian Kline anchored the pitching staff with a 7-3 record, a 3.02 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 65.2 innings of work.  Starting pitchers Brett Borcherding (39 K in 38 IP) and Matthew Rouse (43 K in 35.2 IP) also struck out more than one batter per inning during the season.

Kaveney previously spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as the pitching coach at Millikin University.  His efforts helped recruit more than 40 players to the Millikin program in those two seasons, highlighted by a 31-16 record and the first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in program history in 2021.  Millikin also won its first CCIW Championship in 2021.

The pitching staff set a school record with 390 strikeouts in 2021 and ranked No. 33 in NCAA Division III in earned run average at 3.69.

Prior to his stint at Millikin, Kaveney spent three years as assistant coach at Beloit College in Wisconsin.  He served as infield and hitting coach, while assisting with the pitching staff.  Kaveney also served as recruiting coordinator and helped the team land 53 recruits in three seasons.  His efforts helped Beloit reach the Midwest Conference Championship game as part of a 32-7 season.

Most recently, Kaveney served as travel program coach for the Colorado Roughriders in 2021.  He served as lead recruiter for program summer teams, held camps for multiple age levels and position groups, and offered individual lessons to players.

As a player, Kaveney was first-team all-conference three times and second-team all-Central Region at Beloit in 2016.  He was also a third-team all-region selection in 2014 and helped lead the team to the Midwest Conference Championship and NCAA Division III Tournament in 2016.  He holds career school records for strikeouts and innings pitched, stands second in ERA and ranks third at Beloit in wins.

Kaveney graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in mathematics from Beloit in 2016.  He later earned a MBA from Millikin in 2021.
